THE coronavirus has affected the supply of fish on the market resulting in reduced revenue, Yalelo Limited has said.
Company director Fisho Mwale said following the guidelines by the Ministry of Health, Yalelo has had to adjust to the new normal to ensure continued supply of the commodity.
Mr Mwale said in an interview on Wednesday that the company has resorted to working in shifts in a quest to observe social distancing.
“The entire fish value chain has been disturbed from the lake to the market as well as to the consumers. We do not have a full-fledged workforce. It means we have to work in shifts and it is more challenging if you are doing that on a lake because there are a lot of issues involved in producing fish and you can’t do it part-time and worse with a reduced workforce,” he said.
