Courts rise for 3 days

PRISCILLA CHIPULU, Lusaka
CHIEF Justice Irene Mambilima has permitted that all cases before judges and magistrates which are supposed to take place between May 3 and 5 be adjourned to later dates.
This is to enable the judges and magistrates to attend the

Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) annual general conference in Livingstone this weekend.
Judiciary acting chief registrar Charles Kafunda said this in a letter dated May 2, 2017 to LAZ following the association’s request for adjournment of court matters during its annual general meeting and law conference from May 3 to 6.
“Reference is made to your letter of 28th April, 2017. Following your request, the Honourable Chief Justice has permitted that matters before the honourable judges and magistrates scheduled between 3rd and 5th May, 2017 be adjourned to further dates in order to allow legal practitioners appearing in such matters to attend the LAZ annual general meeting,” Mr Kafunda said.
Litigants with matters scheduled between May 3 and 5 have since been advised to contact the marshals to the judges and magistrates for rescheduling of the affected cases.
