Court rejects pupil bail

THE Chingola Magistrate’s Court has rejected a bail application by an 18-year-old grade 10 pupil who pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and theft.
In his ruling, Magistrate Joseph Malabo rejected the boy’s application for bail on grounds that the offences he committed are very serious.
In the first count, the boy on April 14 this year in Chingola, broke into Michael Sinzuma’s house and stole a suit and a Kino Flo lighting kit worth K1,200.
When asked whether he understood the charge, the boy responded in the affirmative and pleaded guilty.
In the second count, the boy on June 9 this year, entered Millan Mumba’s house and stole a suit and a short worth K850.
The boy also pleaded guilty to the second count.
Mr Malabo adjourned to the case to next Tuesday for written facts.
