Court rejects HH witnesses

THE Constitutional Court has rejected 52 witness statements filed by United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema and his running-mate Geoffrey Mwamba for not conforming to the court’s Rules on filing petitions.
This is in a case in which the UPND has petitioned the Constitutional Court demanding the declaration that President-elect Edgar Lungu and Vice-President-elect Inonge Wina were not validly elected in the August 11 general elections.
President Lungu and Mrs Wina argued through their lawyers that the filing of witness statements by Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba cannot be done in instalments but must be by one act, in one day and at the same time that the petition is filed.READ MORE
