Cosmo reports VJ to police

ZONDIWE MBEWE, ALVIN CHIINGA, Lusaka
NATIONAL Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba has filed a complaint with the police over remarks attributed to veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga that the 2016 elections may be rigged.
Dr Mumba becomes the second politician to file a complaint against Dr Mwaanga after MMD youth activist Bowman Lusambo did so on Monday.
Dr Mumba told journalists at Lusaka Central Police Station yesterday that Dr Mwaanga’s remarks that the 2016 elections may be rigged are alarming and a recipe for civil strife, especially after the elections.
He said he has reported Dr Mwaanga to the police so that he can explain to the people of Zambia how elections are rigged.
Dr Mwaanga was last Saturday quoted in The Post newspaper as saying that opposition political parties should strictly monitor and scrutinise the tallying of votes in the 2016 elections to avoid manipulation and abuse of the electoral process.
Dr Mumba also announced that he will contest the 2016 tripartite elections and has picked Kelly Walubita Jr as his running mate.
Dr Mumba said he and Mr Walubita have managed to mobilise the required 100 supporters from each province.
