Cops killing self, people no longer surprise

Dear editor,
FOLLOWING the recent incident in Namwala in which a police officer shot himself dead, it is no longer surprising that these cases are on the rise.
Police seem to find it easy to kill civilians as a means to resolve personal disputes or committing suicide with official firearms.
Command should stop giving police officers arms without any assignment likely to involve guns.
Why should they be allowed to carry guns even when just walking around town or residential townships where there is no danger?
