I WISH to congratulate the Chipolopolo for signing off the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers with a 2-2 draw against highly-rated Cameroon on Saturday.
It is clear from the performance that the future for the Chipolopolo is bright.
The Under-20 players have brought energy to the team.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda has also demonstrated that local coaches, given the support, can do it.
However, given the overall picture at the end of the Africa zone qualifiers, it shows that Africa’s representatives at Russia 2018 has three North African teams Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia with West Africa contributing the remaining two, Nigeria and Senegal.
It simply means the north is back in terms of dominating African soccer, although the highly-rated Algerians and Cameroon have missed out.
As for Zambia, let’s build the youth system. We have the 2022 World Cup and the 2019 African Nations Cup to look up to.
