Commonwealth not key to dialogue – UK

LUCY LUMBE, Livingstone
BRITISH High Commissioner to Zambia Fergus Cochrane-Dyet says it is not necessary for the Commonwealth to lead the process of political dialogue in Zambia.
Mr Cochrane-Dyet said in an interview here that the relevance of the process is not about the involvement of the Commonwealth but the reforms and their benefits to Zambia.
“Professor Gambari has been very clear that the process should be Zambian led and Zambian owned. The Commonwealth is happy to have acted as a catalyst for the process but it is not necessary that it stirs the dialogue,” he said.
