COMACO scores first, gets organic groundnuts certification

THE Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO) has attained international organic certification for groundnuts grown which will allow the country to start exporting to the international market.
The firm becomes the first in Africa to be certified and it has been done by ECOCERT, a company based in France.
COMACO founder and chief executive officer Lewis Dale said 650 farmers took part in the programme out of the 4,004 registered last season with 50 percent being women.
