‘Close chiengi fishing camps’

MINISTER of Health Chitalu Chilufya has instructed the Luapula Province administration to close all fishing camps following the outbreak of cholera in Chiengi district.
From February 54 patients have been treated at Kabwe Health Centre with 33 discharged.
Dr Chilufya has also ordered the immediate evacuation of people from all fishing camps after undergoing treatment.
He issued the instructions yesterday after visiting the health centre where 23 patients were admitted in the last 24 hours.
Dr Chilufya is in the province to check on the cholera situation in Chiengi and Nchelenge districts.
And Luapula Province health director Peter Bwalya has expressed worry that the outbreak may go out of hand especially that 23 cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
