ROBINSON KUNDA, Lusaka
FORMER Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo on Wednesday scored his third goal to help Bidvest Wits beat Mpumalanga Black Aces in a league match at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Wits edged Collins Mbesuma’s Aces 2-1 to inch their tally move to 20 points, 10 adrift of Absa premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
Katongo opened the scoring10 minutes into the match from outside the area to grab his second successive goal.
It was Katongo’s second goal in five days having also scored in a 2-0 win over Free State Stars.
Buhle Mkhwanazi headed home Jabulani Shongwe’s cross to double the lead.
Abia Nale pulled one back for Mpumalanga on 28 minutes from the spot kick which was awarded after Kees Kwakman handled inside the box.
Mbesuma played full 90 minutes and spurned a few chances in the second half.
In Cape Town, midfielder Clifford Mulenga was a second-half substitute in Ajax Cape Town’s 1-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic.
Mulenga replaced Thabiso Nkoana while Celtic’s Zambia midfielder Mukuka Mulenga was substituted for Lyle Lakay.
