CHOMA has been declared as an open defecation-free (ODF) district with First Lady Esther Lungu urging residents to observe and practice good hygiene to abate diarrhoeal diseases.
Mrs Lungu said achieving ODF status is not easy and urged Choma residents not to allow the status to slip away.
The First Lady said this during the celebration of Choma as an ODF and the World Toilet Day which falls on November 19.
The event was held under the theme: “Better sanitation for better nutrition,” at Chief Singani’s palace here on Thursday.
“Allow me to sound a caution to you the community of Choma. Achieving ODF is not an easy thing and, therefore, we should not let the status slip away from us. You have deservedly attained an ODF status and you should enjoy the numerous benefits of this achievement,” Mrs Lungu said.
