Choma runs out of drugs

MACHA Mission Hospital in Choma has been hit with a shortage of some essential drugs among them Combivir, an antiretroviral drug which helps control HIV infection.
This came to light when newly-appointed Southern Province minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu conducted a familiarisation tour at the Brethren Health facility on Friday.
When presenting the institution’s profile and services it offers, hospital director Abraham Mhango informed the minister that the second level facility has run out of some essential drugs for about two months now.
Mr Mubukwanu described the situation as unacceptable and asked Southern Province principal pharmacist Annie Mung’omba to explain the root cause of the predicament.
