Chipungu is Zesco chair

CHIMWEMWE MWALE, Lusaka
MINISTER of Energy Dora Siliya has appointed Dillon Chipungu as board chairperson of Zesco.
In a statement released yesterday, Ms Siliya says she believes Mr Chipungu “will bring value to the power utility board”.
Zesco has not had a board in place for over a year until a week ago when Cabinet ratified the names that were submitted by the minister.
Ms Siliya said Mr Chipungu, who is a businessman with experience in the private sector will share his business skills with Zesco.
She said the Zesco board chairperson is also expected to work closely with management and other board members to ensure efficiency and good governance is adhered to.
Ms Siliya has further asked Mr Chipungu to ensure that Zesco positions itself as an efficient service provider.
She believes that he will also help the power utility company to uphold transparency in its procurement process.
