Chipolopolo’s chances of qualifying to 2019 AfCON slim

Dear editor,
THE performance of the senior national team fondly known as Chipolopolo has not been impressive. This leaves much to be desired.
The Wedson Nyirenda tutored side was eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to Sudan at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
If the above was not good enough, the Chipolopolo failed to win the final against South Africa last Saturday in the four-nation tournament which Zambia hosted.
Zambia lost 2-0 to South Africa.
Angola and Zimbabwe were the other two nations that participated in the tournament. Angola edged their opponents 4-2 on post-match penalties to clinch the third position.
In September, Zambia will face Namibia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Going by Zambia’s poor performance, our national team might not qualify for 2019 AfCON unless the team improves tremendously.
Two teams from all the 11 groups will qualify for the Cameroon finals.
