Chipolopolo to use new strip

By DIANA MUTAKAFIMBO and CECILIA ZULU
THE national team will use a new strip in Saturday’s 2015 Morocco Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said at a briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the home colour will remain Orange while green is the away colour.
“We wish to inform the nation that the Chipolopolo will wear a new kit this Saturday. The colours still remain Orange for home games and green will be an away strip,” Tembwe said.
He said the charges for the match set for Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium will range from K20 to K500.
The VIP section has been pegged at K500 while the west lower and upper decks will cost K150 and K100 respectively.
The eastern wing tickets will be sold at K50 with North and South going for K20 all round.
Tembwe said tickets will go on sale today at all post offices in Lusaka, Kabwe and all Copperbelt towns.
The University of Zambia and Matero post office are other outlets in Lusaka.
And Tembwe said the national team will leave for Cape Verde on Monday.
Zambia will face Cape Verde in Praia next Wednesday.
“The team may have to leave from Ndola on Monday,” Tembwe said.
Meanwhile, the Niger 2015 Africa Junior Championship qualifier between Zambia and Uganda will be played next Friday.
Tembwe said the match has been moved to Friday due to the Barclays Cup quarter-finals billed for next Saturday.
He said the draws for the Barclays Cup will be conducted on Monday at Football House.
“We have a very tight fixture and the Barclays Cup cannot be pushed further than next Saturday. That is why the under-17 will play on Friday,” Tembwe said.
And Tembwe said the national women’s team will regroup in Lusaka next Tuesday to continue with preparations for next month’s Africa Women Championship scheduled for Namibia.
Meanwhile, FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya says the national women’s team will be adequately prepared for the Africa Women Championship.
Kalusha said in an interview in Lusaka on Tuesday that the association has organised international friendly matches to help the team get in shape for the challenges ahead.
He said the association is leaving nothing to chance.
Kalusha is confident the She-polopolo will perform to expectation in Namibia.
Zambia are in Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Nigeria and hosts Namibia.
