A GROUP of small-scale miners in Chingola district on the Copperbelt has formed an association known as Big Tree Society aimed at safeguarding their
Big Tree Society interim chairperson Martin Kalunga said in an interview yesterday that the new association will act as a bridge between the small-scale miners and firms such as Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).
“We have formed this association because we want to correct the negative perception that people have about small-scale miners. They think we are violent, hooligans and call us all sorts of names such as jerabos,” he said.
