CHINGOLA Municipal Council (CMC) has vowed to sternly deal with people who are growing vegetables using sewer effluent in the district.
Chingola Town Clerk Kabombo Mutakela said in a statement yesterday that the council will soon start uprooting the vegetables which are grown with sewer effluent and punish and prosecute the owners because what they are doing is illegal.
Mr Mutakela said the council is concerned that people who grow such vegetables sell them to unsuspecting members of the public, thereby endangering their health.
“The council would like to issue a warning to people who are in a habit of growing vegetables that they will face the
law for engaging in illegal activities,” he said. CLICK TO READ MORE
