Chinese, Zambian firms partner to train contractors

ARTHUR MWANSA, Lusaka
A CHINESE construction company, Wonderful Ceiling is next month expected to conclude a partnership deal with Thornpark Construction School of Lusaka to offer training and industrial support in modern ceiling installations and technics.
Construction manager Victor Muyambango said recently that the objective behind the partnership whose Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is yet to be concluded, is to expose construction students to latest building and environmental-friendly materials like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) ceiling that are being used worldwide.
Mr Muyambango said to supplement construction students with modern technics, particularly in the installation of PVC ceiling that is fast-growing as the most preferred ceiling in the region because of its huge benefits,” Mr muyambango said.
He said with PVC ceiling, people will get the benefit of using light construction material that is fire or water proof and termite resistant.
“This ceiling comes in different patterns and shapes, and requires no painting and is therefore a huge cost-effective material,” Mr Muyambango said.
He said the partnership is also hoped to give industrial support to students through attachments and employment opportunities.
“Our target is to achieve long term partnership in industrial support that will see students get attached to our firm and learn a number of new things in construction. We also hope to offer employment as well and support youth entrepreneurship,” Mr Muyambango said.
