To the contrary, social media in China is very much alive and working vibrantly. China blocked or disabled WhatsApp to promote WeChat, which is the most widely used social media platform in that country and has evolved to provide even an online payment platform.
Facebook was blocked because China has Weibo and WeChat providing the same social media platform as Facebook. Google was blocked because China has a similar application named Baidu.
If Zambia bans Facebook, WhatsApp and Google, what alternative or local alternative platforms do we have?
