Chilanga to get new cement plant

KELLY NJOMBO, Lusaka
WEYE Construction Materials Limited (WCM) plans to establish cement and quarry plant in Chilanga district at a cost of US$45 million.
The multi-million project, whose production capacity of one million tonnes annually, is projected to create over half a million jobs for Zambians.
The cement and quarry plant, which is expected to have a span of over 20 years, is anticipated to create over 550 jobs, according to an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report submitted to Zambia Environmental Management Agency by WCM.
WCM is ready to implement the proposed project as soon as all the approval requirements are met with ZEMA and other regulatory agencies.
