Chief rejects ceremonies protest

HAMUKALE

CHIEF Nyawa of the Tonga people in Kazungula district of Southern Province says he will go ahead and hold the Guta Mwenze Bbwe traditional

ceremony slated for next month.
Chief Nyawa says this is despite calls by some other traditional leaders in the province not to hold their ceremonies until incarcerated United Party for National Development (UPND0 president Hakainde Hichilema is released.
The traditional leader, who visited Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale at his office, said traditional ceremonies should not be politicised.
Chief Nyawa also said traditional ceremonies are meant to showcase the rich cultural heritage in different chiefdoms as well as celebrate the harvest and preparation for the next farming season. – ZANIS
