Chief Chipepo calls for ban in charcoal trade

CHIEF Chipepo of the Tonga people has appealed to Government to ban the production of and trade in charcoal to conserve the country’s forests and mitigate the impact of climate change.
The traditional leader has also appealed to Government to re-introduce a law which gave chiefs powers to punish citizens who indiscriminately cut trees without their authority.
Chief Chipepo was speaking when Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale flagged off the provincial tree-planting exercise in Gwembe on Sunday.READ MORE
