Chambishi Rugby Club faces collapse

CHAMBISHI Rugby Club chairman Keagan Chibuye has fear that the club may collapse due to lack of sponsorship.
Chibuye said in Kitwe yesterday that the club is on the verge of collapsing.
He appealed to the Clement Sinkamba-led Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) executive to fulfil its promise of helping the club secure sponsorship from mining firms.
Chibuye said the club is uncertain if it will compete in all tournaments this year.
“The club is about to collapse and the continued financial challenges that we are facing is a concern to us. We do not have kit, transport and a club house for the team and we depend on Chambishi High School for kit during matches,” he said.
Chibuye said the team failed away games last season because of transport challenges.
He appealed to the corporate world to partner with it.
“They [ZRU executive] promised to help source for sponsorship for limping clubs like Chambishi and others. So we are optimistic the pledge will be fulfilled before the season commences,” he said.
