‘Chama developing fast’

ARTHUR MWANSA, Chama
CHAMA district administrative officer Noah Simulunga is happy with the development projects Government is undertaking in the district.
In an interview here yesterday, Mr Simulunga said:“I would like to pay tribute to Government for ensuring that Chama is benefiting from the national cake.
It is encouraging that Government has paid particular attention to infrastructure development in the district”.
Mr Simulunga said it is also heartwarming that Chama district has transformed into a fast developing town within a short period of time.
“All the beautiful infrastructure development we are seeing today has been developed within a period of three years. This is no mini achievement for a place that has been underdeveloped since Zambia got independence,” he said.
Mr Simulunga cited the construction of township roads, modern district hospital, rehabilitation of a magistrate court, building of district administrative offices, the construction of the Chama-Matumbo road and construction of secondary schools as some of the many development projects being undertaken in the district.
“I am also happy that boreholes are being done in Chama North and Chama South. I am also hopeful that feeder roads such as the Chama-Lundazi and Chikwa-Lundazi are also earmarked for upgrading into bituminous. People in Chama are excited about these development projects,” Mr Simulunga.
He said it also pleasing that modern housing unit for staff has also been constructed, a development that will motivate more workers to render their services for the development of the district.
Mr Simulunga has, however, called on Government to urgently construct a modern police station as offices are currently using a house for their operations.
