Chainama trail Lusaka in triangular tourney

DEFENDING champions Chainama Hills Golf Club started the 2017 triangular golf tournament trailing Lusaka Golf Club by five points.
In this tournament in which golfers braved the early Sunday rains, Lusaka garnered 48 points while Chainama had 43, with Chilanga in distant third on 17 points going into the second leg at Lusaka Golf Club.
“We did not do very well in the ‘A’ Division where we lost six matches. We will fine-tune and we are still in the race,’’ Chainama captain Chris Chirwa said.
Meanwhile, Kelvin Mwiinga won the Mazabuka Golf Club captain’s prize with a run-away 40 points.
Mwiinga won the prestigious trophy which has a symbolic maize cob, symbolising wealth and abundance.
In this individual stable ford tournament dominated by national team junior players, Malambo Mweemba who got 37 points to finish runner-up.
Both Mweemba and Mwiinga were part of the Zambian juniors contingent which recently won the tri-nations tournament in Malawi.
The event, hosted by club captain Herbert Shalubobya, marked the close of the 2016 calendar.
