Central Province tops assault cases

NANCY SIAME, Lusaka
THE number of gender-based violence (GBV) cases recorded in the third quarter of this year has increased by16.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said in a statement yesterday that police recorded 6,114 cases of GBV across the country compared to 5,096 recorded during the third quarter of this year.
“The continued rise in cases of GBV may be attributed to many interventions put in place by the Victim Support Unit and other stakeholders in combating the vice,” she said.
The interventions have made many people to be reporting such cases, hence the increase.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
