MWILA NTAMBI, Mansa
THE Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) has targeted to create about 15,000 jobs in Luapula Province by 2021 through
supporting industrial yards and district value chains.
Speaking when he made a presentation at the just-ended Luapula Expo and Investment Conference yesterday, director general Likando Mukumbuta said CEEC has already started seeing positive results in job creation and has set aside K20 million for the establishment of an industrial yard in Mansa.
He said CEEC will next month start running a tender inviting contractors to participate in the construction of an industrial yard in Mansa.
“We hope to start constructing the facility in December, and once it is done, we expect not less than 700 Zambians to be waking up every morning and going to the industrial yard to work,” Mr Mukumbuta said.
He said over 120 people are going to own businesses in the industrial yard while others are going to be employees.
