CEEC spends K258,000 on 5 East projects

THE Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) has disbursed over K258, 000 from January to June to fund five projects in Eastern Province.
CEEC provincial coordinator Callistus Mweele said K258, 974 was disbursed in the first half of 2017.

Mr Mweele named Mwikatane Construction, Risonol Enterprises, Lusanjo Business Management Services and Nandi Electrical and Hardware as some of the beneficiaries.
He said this when delivering an economic Provincial Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) subcommittee report in Chipata recently.
“In line with the rural industrialisation strategy of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI), the Commission has started working towards establishing a farmer-owned cotton ginnery in Lundazi district,” he said.
Mr Mweele said this was part of the operationalisation of the value chain based clusters and resolution of the symposium held in Chipata recently.
He said Lundazi is one of the districts in the province that produce a lot of cotton.
Mr Mweele said this is a component of the African Development Bank (AfDB) supported Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project.
