CDF distribution kicks off in Kitwe

Kitwe City Council

CONSTITUENCIES in Kitwe have started receiving their Constituency Development Fund (CDF) after Kitwe City Council (KCC) received K1.4 million for Nkana and Wuskile constituencies.

Government recently announced that it would start disbursing CDF to various constituencies country-wide for implementation of various developmental projects.
Kitwe town clerk Bonwell Luanga said in an interview yesterday that the local authority has so far received K1.4 million for Nkana and Wusakile constituencies, and that each constituency will be given K700,000 out of the K1.4 million they are supposed to receive.
“Each constituency is supposed to receive K1.4 million, but Nkana and Wusakile have received a part payment of K700,000 each. I am sure more funds will be disbursed to the district,” Mr Luanga said.
And Mr Luanga said plans of setting up a satellite town across the Kafue River are progressing well, and that a committee has been put in place to spearhead the development.
He said the satellite town will decongest the central business district, which has no open space for development.
He said an industrial park will also be set up in Kitwe by Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 20 hectares.
Mr Luanga said Kitwe is developing at a fast rate hence the need to ensure a satellite town is opened up across the Kafue River for other developments.
