THE decision by Copperbelt University (CBU) management to consider recruiting a dean of students outside the institution without the recommendation of the Standing Statute Committee has been challenged in the Ndola High Court.
CBU Academics Union general secretary Willie Ngosa has asked the court to stay the decision to externally recruit deans pending determination of the matter.
In an affidavit in support of ex parte for an order for leave to appeal out of time and stay the decision, Mr Ngosa says the reason the appeal was filed out of time is due to the alleged concealment of information pertaining to the decision by CBU council.
“The appellant, as a member of the Standing Statute Committee, was informed by CBU council about the directive from the [ministry of] Higher Education Permanent Secretary,” Mr Ngosa submits.
