China’s foreign investment law to usher in new chapter of opening up

With a new draft foreign investment law submitted to national lawmakers for a third reading, China is a big step closer to adopting a unified “fundamental law” that will better protect foreign investors and start a new chapter for its opening up.
Friday afternoon, Wang Chen, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), made explanatory remarks on the new draft to deputies attending the second session of the 13th NPC at the Great Hall of the People. (more…)

China’s national legislature starts annual session

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) – The 13th National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s national legislature, opened its second session Tuesday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping and other leaders of the Communist Party of China and the state were present at the opening meeting, which was attended by nearly 3,000 NPC deputies. (more…)

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to Panama will further accelerate the development of bilateral ties which has already got off to a strong start.
The bond between Chinese and Panamanians was forged over 160 years ago, when the first group of Chinese laborers arrived in Panama and made indelible contributions to the construction of the Panama Canal. But it was not until in 2017 that the old acquaintances were declared as formal friends based on the one-China policy. (more…)

African women judicial actors vow to curb gender-based violence

African women justice actors have inked a commitment to stepping up efforts to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in the continent.
Representatives of associations of women judges, magistrates and prosecutors also resolved to establish the International Association of Women Judges-Africa Region Forum to eliminate sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).  (more…)
