CASSAVA production is set to boom following the development of high yielding disease-free cassava plantlets by Zambia Research Institute (ZARI).
ZARI director general Moses Mwale said the institute has made significant progress in developing the cassava plantlets aimed at boosting productivity and crop production.
“ZARI has made strides in developing the plantlets that will not only benefit the small-scale farmers in the target districts, but also many other farming communities that depend mainly on cassava as a staple food and as a source of income through local sales and informal exports,” Mr Mwale said.
