GOVERNMENT has rolled out the social cash transfer programme to four districts on the Copperbelt where 10,309 people are expected to benefit from the scheme.
The districts where the programme has been extended to are
Mufulira, Kalulushi, Chililabombwe and Masaiti and Government has since released K440,000 for the implementation of the plan.
Copperbelt provincial social welfare officer Chris Hilweele said in an interview yesterday that social welfare officers in the respective districts have started preparing for a flawless implementation of the programme.
Mr Hilweele said training programmes are also being conducted in the four districts to ensure that social welfare officers are well, equipped with skills on how to administer the programme, that targets the aged, female and child-headed homes, the disabled and other vulnerable people.
“We are happy as a province that we have 10,309 people who have been added to the social cash transfer scheme. This follows the rolling out of the programme to Mufulira, Kalulushi, Chililabombwe and Masaiti districts here on the Copperbelt,” he said.
