Calm returns to Lusaka

Lusaka City centre.

AN UNEASY calm yesterday returned to high density residential areas of Lusaka which were rocked by two days of looting foreign-owned shops and rioting.
Police and other security wings, however, continued keeping vigil and patrolling the affected townships.
The riots and looting erupted on Monday after word went round that some foreigners are believed to be behind ritual murders that have claimed seven lives in the capital city in the last one month.
A Daily Mail news team surveyed the affected townships which include Chawama, Kuku, George, Bauleni, Mtendere East and Garden House and found shops open and people going about their business peacefully.
