Calling U-20 players to senior team welcome

Dear editor,
The calling of seven Under-20 players to the senior national team for the fixtures against Algeria this Saturday in Lusaka and next Wednesday in Algeria is welcome.
The gesture by coach Wedson Nyirenda is welcome and it is a morale booster.

The encounter against Algeria will be very tough in that both teams are aiming at amassing maximum points in a bid to better the chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

In my considered view, the calling of seven Under-20 players midfielders Boston Muchindu, Edward Chilufya, Emmanuel Banda, Enock Mwepu, Fashion Sakala and Patson Daka to the senior national team is long overdue.
The Zambia Under-20 national team reached the quarter-finals of the 2017 Korea World Cup and they exhibited football skills much to the delight of soccer fans.
The Under-20 players will certainly blend very well with other players in the national team like Fwayo Tembo, Cletus Chama Chota among others and register positive results. They can do this by convincingly beating Algeria both at home and away.
If the above is not good enough, Under-20 national team and Nkana coach Beston “Quicksilver” Chambeshi has been appointed as the assistant coach to the senior national team.
Go Zambia go and conquer. We our behind and proud of you.
