BALLOT papers for the September 14 local government by-elections arrived in the country yesterday after being printed in Dubai.

The by-elections are for district council chairpersons in Itezhi Tezhi, Kanchibiya, Lavushimanda and Lunte.
And the ward by-elections will be held in Chililalila, Chitwi, Luansobe, Luntomfwe, Libonda, Mpidi Kakonga, Chimanja and Mabinga.
Speaking at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Patriotic Front elections co-ordinator Mwila Kakana wondered why other political parties participating in the by-elections did not witness the arrival of the ballot papers.
And Party of National Unity secretary general Kasote Singogo commended the ECZ for being transparent in the way it conducts polls and expressed optimism that the forthcoming by-elections will be free and fair.
