Businessmen, farmer in court for murder

CHOMBA MUSIKA, Choma
TWO businessmen and a peasant farmer of Choma have appeared in the Choma Magistrate’s Court for allegedly murdering a 76-year-old commercial farmer.
This is in a case in which Ezious Mwaanga, 34, a businessman of Zambia township, Ackim Munkombwe Saidi, 35, a businessman of Mwapona township, and 24-year-old Ulizyi Muleya, a peasant farmer, are charged with murder.
It is alleged that Mwaanga, Saidi and Muleya, on December 11 last year in Choma, jointly and whilst acting together murdered Jesse John Walker.
The trio appeared before magistrate Mbololwa Mukela for reading of the charge on Monday amid tight security.
When Ms Mukela read the charge, the three said they understood it.
Ms Mukela adjourned the case to January 20 for mention awaiting instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commit the accused to the High Court for trial.
