ELFIN Business Solutions has advised Government to build the capacity of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) for it to effectively support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Company chief executive officer Edwin Zulu said once the capacity of the agency is improved, ZDA will have presence in all the provincial centres and that SMEs will easily have access to services.
Mr Zulu said this on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation’s radio programme dubbed Investment trends under the theme ‘Innovation and entrepreneurship for the development of the economy’.
“The building of ZDA’s capacity will ensure that it will operate more effectively and will go a long way in reviewing support for SMEs and cooperative enterprises across the country,” he said.
Mr Zulu also said the capacity of entrepreneurs needs to be worked on in various sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing; tourism and mining for them to significantly contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.
He said if the challenges faced by SMEs in various parts of the country are addressed, the potential which relays in these areas will be effectively be exploited.
He, however, commended ZDA for bringing various players together and that the economy will only be more effective, and vibrant if the SMEs are involved.
