Buffaloes men win, women tumble

GREEN Buffaloes made a serious statement to win the men’s league title when they beat University of Zambia Pacers 74 -61 at

National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka but their women suffered a setback losing 63-60 to University of Zambia Honeys.
It was sweet revenge for Honeys who were beaten by the soldiers in the first series of the season.
It was a weekend of close shave wins as women’s title chasers Matero Magic Sparks managed to grab two points off Lusaka City Council Lootresses via a 47- 41 score line.
For Buffaloes men, the win put them at an advantage over defending champions Matero Magic who managed to outwit LCC Looters 73-69 to keep their championship retention hopes alive.
Nishati Denvers’ fight to move from the relegation zone was boosted with a stunning win over title chasers Napsa Hurricanes who they beat 87-82 in a Midlands Basketball Association Week Nine fixture at Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka.
The Sain Mbuzi drilled Denvers win over Hurricanes was their second victory of the season.
Intrepid Bulls were beaten 81 – 67 at OYDC by Hawks on Sunday marking it a weekend of double losses for the Osward Kalamba drilled side.
Munali Suns continued shining and this time at the expense of promotion side Heroes Play United who they outshone 76 – 51.
