BEFORE being taken to his final resting place at Memorial Park, Brian Chilala, 55, gave the mourners who had gathered under a marquee at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka on Thursday some parting gifts – a free show and land to build a multi-purpose centre for the artists.
The free show was courtesy of the artistes from different disciplines as well as Chilala’s own 35-member Ngoma Zasu band who appeared on stage for the artistic send-off while the offer of land came through Minister of Lands Jean Kapata.
The offer of land by Kapata, who was among the Cabinet ministers in attendance, was instigated by former Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) chairman Maiko Zulu and a host of other speakers who decried that artistes in the country have not been given fair deal when sharing the national cake.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
