BoZ bemoans low up-take of shares

BANK of Zambia (BoZ) has bemoaned the low uptake of shares by the public being offered by some banks.
BoZ Governor Denny Kalyalya said recently that some banks have faced problems in meeting the minimum capital requirement and have resorted to issuing shares to the public to raise shortfall.
In 2012, Government raised the minimum capital requirement for both local and foreign commercial banks to K104 million from K12 million and K520 million respectively.
Dr Kalyalya urged the media to help raise awareness about the shares being offered by some financial institutions.
