Boxing fraternity mourns passionate Kabobola

THAT his fights grabbed national attention had nothing to do with his prowess but more with the dearth of local boxing stars particularly in the professional ranks.
But like most of his contemporaries such as Francis ‘Galagata’ Zulu, Brian Bwantu, Joseph ‘Ramos’ Phiri and Masozi ‘Drago’ Kamanga, Ackson ‘Kabobola’ Nyirenda’s love for the sport could not be doubted.
In truth, he was more of a fan than a boxer. His official record stands at four bouts at heavyweight level, where he won once against Ramos to capture the national heavyweight title and lost the other three to Galagata.
However, there was also a fifth fight, which also ended in a loss.
