THERE were so many milestones during the Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS) pass- out parade at Nyango Staff Training School on the outskirts of Kaoma district in Western Province.
Until the pass out parade held last Wednesday, Nyango in Kaoma was virtually unknown.
Yet, having been a camp for the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) combatants, it should have been a prominent site embedded in the history of Zambia and Namibia.
But thanks to the pass-out parade in which 941 warders and wardresses were being unveiled, hundreds of people from all parts of the country turned up to celebrate the achievements of their relations.
Not even the sandy terrain to Nyango could stop motorists from reaching one of the remotest parts of Kaoma.
There was a huge convoy of all manner of vehicles – from saloon to 4×4, trucks and buses – as they headed to Nyango as early as 05:00 hours.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
