Banyana Banyana massacre She-polopolo

ZAMBIA’s readiness for her maiden Africa Women’s Championship in Namibia got a reality check yesterday when a more refined Banyana Banyana bashed them in an international friendly at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
However, coach Charles Bwale may be relieved that the Namibia outing is 46 days away to help him stitch areas poked by season campaigners Banyana Banyana.
The She-polopolo, who have been in camp for a week, fell to a Shiwe Nogwanya goal in the 31st minute.
Nogwanya capitalised on a defensive lapse.
The Zambians pushed and Ellen Mubanga’s shot was saved by South Africa goalkeeper Roxanne Barker on 47 minutes.
If the Zambians thought the first goal was a fluke, Portia Modise netted a hat-trick.
Modise opened her account on the hour mark with a low shot beating goalkeeper Miriam Katamanda and she tapped in the third on 70 minutes.
Modise completed the rout in added time.
At the tournament in Windhoek, Zambia are in Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Nigeria and hosts Namibia while South Africa are in Group B with Algeria, Cameroon and Ghana.
