THE Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) is investigating a cyber-crime wave that has hit five banks in the country resulting in over 1,000 bank accounts being hacked by unknown people.
BAZ chief executive officer Leonard Mwanza said the incident is suspected to have happened over the Easter holiday.
In a bulletin monitored on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation TV2 news last evening, Mr Mwanza said the affected banks have carried out investigations.
He said the Bank of Zambia is also carrying out investigations into the matter.
Mr Mwanza said affected banks have devised measures to avoid other account holders from being affected.
He urged the public to look out for suspicious transactions on their accounts.
