Ban tribal campaigns, commission told

JIMMY CHIBUYE, Choma
A PETITIONER to the commission of inquiry into electoral violence and voting patterns has recommended that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should ban tribal political campaigns before, during and after elections.

Febian Choongo, 67, a peasant farmer of Choma’s B226 Zambia Township, said ECZ should outlaw political campaigns anchored on tribe or region as failure to do so will plunge the country into deep tribal divisions.
“The country today is divided because of the tribal campaigns displayed by politicians during the 2016 elections. It is, therefore, my submission that ECZ bars such campaigns. We want to hear ideologies and not tribal talk,” Mr Choongo said.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
