‘Ban alcohol during election period’

CATHERINE MUMBA, Mwansabombwe, Chipili
A CATHOLIC evangelist in Mwansabombwe in Luapula Province has submitted to the Commission of Inquiry into Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence that alcohol consumption should be regulated during election period to avoid confusion.

And a 93-year-old headman of Mukumbi village in Chipili has submitted that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should formulate provisions that will give authority to traditional leaders to mediate over political differences in their chiefdoms.
Speaking when he made his submission to the commission on Tuesday, Paulo Musaka said alcohol is the major cause of confusion during elections as most of the perpetrators do so after being intoxicated.
