Assembly go 20 points clear, Kitwe held

NATIONAL Assembly on Sunday opened up a 20 point lead at the summit of Division One Zone One without kicking a ball after Katete Rangers failed to pitch up for a Week 23 match.

Failure by the Eastern Province outfit to honour the fixture in Lusaka resulted in Assembly being given a 3-0 scoreline.

The Osward Mutapa-drilled side have 60 points, 20 better than second-placed Lusaka City Council, who did not play their tie against Matero United, due to the players’ boycott.
LCC players boycotted the match to press for their 10 months unpaid allowances.
Kitwe United on Sunday missed a chance to dislodge Kansanshi Dynamos from the summit of Division One Zone Two after battling to a barren draw with Geokas Curve at Garden Park Stadium.
Kansanshi cemented their stay at the summit after drawing 1-all with Kalulushi Modern Stars on Saturday.
The North-Western Province side have 43 points, one clear of Kitwe and Indeni.
