Asante launches Christmas EP

CHOMBA MUSIKA, Lusaka
AFTER successfully hosting the ‘Better Days Ahead’ concert last month, the contemporary Asante Acappella gospel group is back with some soothing Christmas carols to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The gospel group is working on an EP, which will have six Christmas carols to put everyone in the festive mood especially after an arguably stressful year characterised by various challenges like the coronavirus outbreak.
The group announced on their Facebook page in reference to the EP: “Matthew 1:21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. We have something coming your way this festive season.”
And in an interview with Weekend Mail, the group’s director for music and programmes Tevine Kaputo said the group will be releasing one carol per week.
“We are working on a Christmas EP. We will have six Christmas carols. Just celebrating Jesus’ birth,” Kaputo said.
He said the six carols, among them the famous Silent Night, will be released between this month through to January.
“Other carols include Joy to the World, Away in a Manger, Bethlehem, Go Tell It on the Mountain and Happy New Year,” Kaputo said.
The all-male singing band’s manager Franklin Vasco assured that the EP will invigorate the Christmas spirit especially among those who may not be ready for festivities.
“If you’re not ready, then believe me you will be ready when you hear that Asante is gonna launch Christmas carols,” Vasco said in a special recorded interview posted on the groups Facebook page.
“It’s gonna be both music and we are working on trying to make the videos ready.”
Vasco, who was recently engaged to manage the widely followed group which has been in existence for close to four years now, describes the Christmas EP as a beautiful must-not-miss.
“Make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel, don’t miss it, it’s gonna be a way beautiful time to celebrate Christmas with your families while listening to Asante,” he said. “I’m sure it’s gonna be big blessing to all of all.”
